Was there a bomb plot?
After the failure of British intelligence in a number of areas there is a feeling of scepticism about the latest scare stories of plots to blow up airliners bound for the U.S. Craig Murray, a journalist with some knowledge of surveillance, asks some leading questions about those arrested.
Clearly this has been a very costly and traumatic exercise, but as it is pointed out both Bush and Blair have cause to be desperate needing another 9/11. The Power of Nightmares has already described how politicians are using scare tactics to bring about cohesion and support for themselves. Is this another attempt. If so it is very dangerous in the way that the Muslim community are under constant surveillance and attack. It is the action of leaders that has made the U.S. and now the U.K. targets in the first place. The media seems to have bought it hook, line and sinker.
according to this morning's Guardian !6/8/2006) quite a lot of people feel the same way! Many are taking a middle way waiting to see the results.
