Blair as UN Secretary General? Come on!
So Tony Blair appears to be angling after the UN Secretary General's job after Kofi Annan. His track record as war leader, cuddling up to Bush and Sharon, his support of extraordinary rendition etc. seem to me to make him entirely unsuitable. It has been suggested that his speech at Georgetown University two weeks ago was a signal of interest and kind of job application.
An attack on the US use of the UN as a tool, while failing to give support has been made by Kofi Annan' British deputy which has brought howls of rage from John Bolton, a major critic of the UN. In this case it is possible to see that Blair would himself be a useful tool of US policy and so he could get backing from this source.
